Fall BBQ Fund-Raiser Assists in Educational Activities

— Written By

At the Hickory American Legion Fairgrounds, on Saturday, October 14 from 5-8 pm, everyone is invited to enjoy a superb BBQ meal. Tickets are $10.00/plate.
The Catawba Valley Cattlemen’s Association(CVCA) will have its Fall BBQ dinner to raise funds for its Scholarship and Educational Activities Fund. Post-secondary scholarships are open to high school seniors in all counties where CVCA members live. Seniors must be planning to pursue an agriculture related degree. The cattlemen provided scholarships for five seniors in 2017. Two of the recipients were from Alexander County, one was from Iredell County, and two were from Catawba County. In September of this year, 14 students traveled with CVCA to tour two farms in South Carolina. The trip was a wonderful educational experience for both the cattlemen and the students.

Not only will you enjoy one of the best BBQ’s in the state but you will also be helping to support local High School seniors who have interest in agriculture.
