4-H Mini-Gardens

— Written By

4-H DIG Club is offering youth the chance to “dig in” and have fun with your own vegetable garden. We welcome all kinds of gardens: 10 x 12 ground gardens, raised gardens or even container gardens. Learn gardening basics at the May Mini-Garden Orientation meeting and pick-up a set of plants and seeds. Youth will keep a garden journal and complete a mini-project book as they create and care for their garden.

Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Catawba County will visit your garden during the summer to judge and provide youth with information and suggestions for helping you grow a successful home vegetable garden. The cost will be $20 to cover the cost of plants with a discount for 4-H DIG Club members. Youth in the same family may share a garden but must complete their own project book. Youth will have the opportunity to win awards!

Mini-Garden Orientation: Thursday, May 9, 6:30 p.m., Agricultural Resources Center, 1175 South Brady Ave, Newton, NC 2865
