4-H Summer Program Update

Official 4-H logoCatawba  County 4-H Friends and Families, It is with a heavy heart that we have to share this information with you. As per the request from NC State University and NC State Extension, all summer programming has been moved to online programs. Overnight camp has been canceled.

Late Friday afternoon, we received final guidance from NC State University regarding summer 4-H programs. While the message specifically mentions camps, it refers to all K-12 face-to-face events and activities conducted by NC State University employees and representatives. This impacts residential camps held at our three 4-H camps/centers, events held on the NC State campus, and all face-to-face programs conducted in the counties until NC State Extension lifts restrictions on Extension programming.

4-H State Staff are heading up an effort to provide a virtual option for District Activity Days and State 4-H Presentation Finals, as well as virtual options for NC 4-H Congress and North Carolina 4-H Citizenship Focus. The camp leadership team will also be looking at ways to provide virtual opportunities at our camps.

We will also begin to prepare for virtual 4-H Summer Adventures programs. Everyone who participates in our summer programs must complete 4HOnline registration (nc.4honline.com), so if you have not registered yet, please go ahead and do that.

We are all disappointed that we must take these actions but this is the responsible thing to do. Our greatest concern is for the health and safety of everyone. Please take all appropriate measures to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Our staff is committed to continuing to provide services and resources for Catawba County citizens. Staff are working remotely during this time and are available by phone and email.

Keep up with NC State University COVID-19 related updates and information.
