Let’s go camping!

Our 2023 camping dates are:

  • June 25-30 with traditional camp at Millstone 4-H Camp near Ellerbe, NC
  • July 16-21 with Fur, Fish and Game camp at Millstone 4-H Camp

Transportation will be provided for campers attending either of the weeks listed above. Youth may attend other weeks at our 4-H rate, but transportation will not be provided by Caldwell County 4-H. It will be up to individual families to coordinate travel arrangements.

More about traditional residential camp

Millstone 4-H Camp offers a traditional six-day camp for kids ages 8-14, this camp begins Sunday afternoon and concludes Friday morning with nonstop fun in between!

More about Fur, Fish and Game camp

This is the premier summer camp experience for youth ages 11-16 interested in the outdoors, wildlife, hunting, and fishing.

Campers will have the opportunity to work with outstanding instructors from NC State University, The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, Wake County Wildlife Club, NC 4-H, and the North Carolina Forestry Service. Campers will also participate in the North Carolina Hunter Safety course and may earn their Hunter Safety Certification.

By the numbers

Camp costs $525, but each Caldwell County camper who registers through the Extension center will receive one $250 campership per summer to use toward this cost. There are also state-awarded camperships available. Ask Sarah Kocher if your child qualifies for a state-awarded campership and how to apply.

Youth must register through Caldwell County 4-H for camp to be eligible for the local campership. A non-refundable $50 deposit secures a youth camping spot. This should be paid to “Caldwell County 4-H” at 120 Hospital Ave., Suite 1, Lenoir, NC 28645. Please write your preferred camping dates in the memo. If we do not have your email address and phone number already, please provide it at the time of the deposit, so we can stay in touch and confirm your camping details.

Camp for Christmas

We are offering a “Camp for Christmas” gift package again this year. It could also be given for someone’s birthday or another holiday your family celebrates with gifts.

Adults who make the $50 camp deposit for a young person during November 1-December 1 will receive a complimentary gift package, which includes a certificate and a “Let’s Go Camping” t-shirt, at no additional cost. The remaining camping fees can be paid up until the week before camp.
