N.C. Cooperative Extension Civil Rights Training

Extension Volunteers & Advisory Groups

This 10 minute video is for new volunteer and advisory group member training. The video provides an overview of Extension’s civil rights responsibilities. A power point version of the training can be used as an alternative to the video. Maintain a record of all volunteers and advisory group members who view the training video and date completed in the county civil rights file.

New Employees

Civil rights training is required for all new Extension employees within their first 30 days of employment. A record of training completion should be maintained in the county civil rights file.

Annual Refresher

County based Extension employees should attend at least one training each year focused on civil rights, limited english proficiency, diversity and inclusion, discrimination & harassment, or equal opportunity. County Extension Directors may choose to conduct a refresher civil rights training during a staff meeting.

Statewide Training

All Extension county based employees are required to attend mandatory civil rights training. A recording from one of these trainings is provided below for any employees who were unable to attend or who are interested in a refresher.
