2019 Farm City Week flyer

Farm City Week was established by the Kiwanis and Cooperative Extension to celebrate the beauty and purpose of agriculture and its contributions to the economy and community. This year, we are excited to bring back a full slate of activities so we can do just that! Our theme is ‘You Can’t See It From The Road’ as so many farms in our county contain a wonderful display of natural resources, you just have to turn off of the asphalt to see that for yourself. Activities begin on November 19 with a Farm Tour followed by a Chopped Competition featuring local Kiwanis clubs facing off in a cooking showdown highlighting local ingredients on November 20. Harnett County FFA and 4-H members will get a chance to show off their tractor driving skills on November 20 before we wrap up with a banquet and awards ceremony on November 21. Elementary school students will have the opportunity to enter a poster contest where winners will receive a prize. To register for any of these activities, call us at 910-893-7530 or visit us at our office in Lillington at 126 Alexander Drive.

Our banquet and awards ceremony celebrates local farmers and farm supporters as we continue our legacy of agricultural excellence. Awards include Farm Family of the Year, Friend of the Farmer, Innovative Farmer of the Year, and Female Agriculturalist of the Year. Winners are chosen based on submissions from neighbors and residents, so check out harnett.ces.ncsu.edu or stop by our office to pick up an application to nominate someone today!

We can’t wait to fellowship with the community as we celebrate agriculture!
