children at cooking club

iCook 4-H club involves cooking, eating,  and playing together with the goal of promoting healthy choices. Food preparation, physical activity, family engagement and communication and goal setting are part of each monthly session. Families leave with a take home activity each month. The club started in September 2018,  when the youth made fruit salsa with cinnamon crisp at their first meeting. There is a participant packet that children take home each month to encourage continued learning and family time in the kitchen. The take home activities combined with the club meeting activities are the perfect basis for youth to create a 4-H foods project book to submit for judging at the end of the year!

The club programs are based on the national 4-H iCook curriculum. The suggested age is 8-12 year old. Adult helpers should attend with children. The club meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Cost: $10 yearly club fee for program supplies. Leaders: Dr. Tasheenia Bennett, tasheenia21@yahoo.com, and Danielle Hicks.

Announcements and meeting reminders are share with a club facebook page.
