Join this project and receive chicks to raise and show at the Hickory American Legion Fair! Participants will also have the opportunity to fill their freezer with meat at the conclusion of the project.

The cost of the project is $10 per participant and is open to youth ages 5–18. Entries may be limited based on chick availability, so register early. The number of chicks provided to each participant will be determined based on availability and the final number of registered participants. Participants should expect to receive approximately 6–12 chicks.

Chick pick-up day is still to be determined but will likely be July 9 or 10. Chicks must be picked up on the designated day. Additional instructions and project information will be provided to registered families.

All birds must be processed at the end of the project.

The registration deadline is Thursday, July 2.

An informational meeting will be held on June 30 at 3:30 PM at the Extension Office. If you are unable to attend the informational meeting, please email Carson Johnson at carson_johnson@ncsu.edu to make arrangements to receive additional instructions and remain eligible for the project.

Cash or check payments for registration will be accepted at the informational meeting or at chick pick-up.

All participants are required to participate in the 4-H Broiler Project Show on Sunday, September 6, at the Hickory American Legion Fair.
