The Catawba County Cooperative Extension is privileged to lead the Catawba County Youth Council. The County Commissioners recognized the importance of involving youth in county government to promote citizenship and leadership for future generations and established the Council several years ago.

The Catawba County Youth Council is open to any Catawba County youth and reflects the different cultures of our county. This year the Council will focus on how local government works and how they can be involved. The Council also participates in and hosts volunteer opportunities to increase their civic engagement. The council members will be appointed by the Catawba County Commissioners and consist of 2-4 students from each school.

This opportunity is suited for mature high school student leaders with an interest in community service, leadership, and civic engagement. Youth wishing to be a part of the council are required to submit the online application and letter of recommendation. The application is available online. The application deadline is Friday, October 2nd.
