This month’s meeting is on Tuesday,February 13, 2018 at the Newton Extension office building.
 BBQ Fundraiser Meal, February 23th at the NC State Cattlemen's Conference 
 

Meeting Agenda 
6:00 pm - Supper is served. 
6:45 pm - Business meeting – Greg Whitener, president                                                                                       
               –Discussion: BBQ Meal Organization.                                                                                      
7:15 pm –45 minute Educational Program: “Tools in the Forage Toolbox - Annuals” 
8:00 pm - Meeting adjourned                                                        

Speaker: Dr. Deidre Harmon,  NCSU Livestock Specialist,   @ Mountain Research Station - Waynesville.   Deidre was raised in Galax,Va.   She and family currently run 300 cows on the home farm.  

  Please pay annual dues to Amanda Whitener. Membership list will be corrected based on dues paid thru April.

Ø We need cakes baked for both the North Carolina Cattlemen’s Friday Night Banquet and the Youth Recognition Breakfast” Auction on Saturday morning Feb. 24th. 

Ø FRIDAY night, February 23, we will cook and serve (7 pm) a BBQ Meal. We need your help. Plan to attend and work at cooking, serving, or cleaning. Call our president, Greg Whitener (828-228-7962); secretary, Jeff Carpenter (704-530-1867);livestock extension agent, Glenn Detweiler (405-219-1902). The money raised last year was very similar to this fall BBQ. We need your help to make this job easy and we enjoy your company!Volunteer at the meeting for good planning.

Ø NC Cattlemen’s Conference Feb.23, 8:45 - Feb. 24, 12:00; Total pre-cost 85.00:Fri. AM Educational Package=25.00. Topics include: Weaning Management, Systems for growing Cattle, Improving Health and Immunity, New Technology.

Ø SATURDAY Feb. 24; 9am-12noon. Bring the entire family (Youth) to the demonstration stations and trade show.$5.00/Youth. Beef Skillathon Contest, Forage Quiz Bowl, Reproduction-Hands-On!Dairy Cow Milking Demo and more.

Ø NC Agritunity Conference and Trade Show Saturday Feb 10,2018,8am-2:30pm, Iredell Ag Extension Center, Topics include: Value Added Meat Products With Choice Cuts -9:00 10:00, Grazing Management for Small Ruminants - 10:30-11:30 AM, Parasite Prevention and Management in Sheep & Goats -1:30-2:30 PM
